Onsite tenant, Gineico celebrates 44 years.
Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard (GCCM) is not the only one celebrating a milestone in 2020. Our onsite tenant, Gineico, is celebrating 44 years of assisting boat owners to make the very most of their boating experience with leading Italian products.
In 1976, patriarch Bruno Gambacorti first travelled to Australia and registered the family-owned, Italian marine equipment business. The company’s unique name is actually an acronym of its original name: Gambacorti Italian Nautical Export Import Co. Passed from father to sons, Pierluigi Gambacorti – or PG as he is more affectionally known – expanded the marine business to include equipment for the modern boat owner. Yet still maintaining the commitment to bring to Australian boaters the best of Italy’s marine equipment from both established brands and the innovators.
Gineico’s showroom at GCCM is packed with Quick Gyro Stabilizers, Besenzoni hardware, Gianneschi pumps and blowers, Idromar water makers, Vimar switches, hardware and marine LED lighting from Italy’s leading manufacturers. Through their subsidiary AerLift, you will even find details on the Ascom Boat Hoists and Motorised trailers and the CE certified boat stands and hardstand equipment all of which are proudly used by the GCCM shipyard team.
Pierluigi Gambacorti says “Our humble beginnings were importing the Drofin Italian made inboard diesel engine. At that time, it was the world’s first marine (not marinized) diesel inboard engine with unmatched performance. The Drofin was revolutionary for the time and so successful we still stock and sell spare parts for these incredible engines”.
The tenets on which the company was built were Bruno’s passions for quality, Italian design, and innovation. Since then, the Australian company with an Italian soul has expanded the breadth of quality, innovative Italian products they represent. It helps that they are fluent Italian speakers!
“This creates a uniquely strong connection with our 28 Italian suppliers who continue to work closely with us. This is why our team can access products, parts, and technical information quickly and easily for our customers. We also work very closely with the passionate Italian designers and engineers that create and service the products we sell. This ensures Gineico is the first to see new products and we are also often involved in refining and improving the design so that the finished product better suits the specific needs of our customers,” continued PG.
One of the major new Italian products added to the Gineico range is the Quick Gyro stabiliser. Like Bruno’s introduction of the Drofin engine 44 years prior, the Quick Gyro is a game-changer as the world’s first vertically spinning, air-cooled gyro stabiliser. It is a smaller, simpler and smarter gyro that has quickly seen incredible sales growth across Australia and New Zealand in motorboats ranging from 24ft to 82ft.
“On behalf of my family I am proud to see that after all these years and countless successful new products, Gineico still has a keen eye for quality, Italian design and innovation,” stated PG.
“We extend a heartfelt congratulazioni to PG, his team and his family. 44 years is an enormous achievement and testament to your service standards, quality of products and innovation. We are proud to have you in our facility,” said Trenton Gay, CEO of GCCM.
And now Gineico is in its mid-40s, they have had a little facelift re-banding to represent the modern era. Watch for their new website.
