Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) welcomes back international vessels
After almost two years of uncertain boarders and intense quarantine requirements, Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) is excited to welcome back international superyacht and pleasure craft crews.
Fully vaccinated travellers arriving by sea are no longer required to undertake the mandatory 14-day quarantine period. Instead, they must complete a PCR or Rapid Antigen Test within the first 24 hours with a negative result. This exciting news comes after the Queensland quarantine restrictions were lifted for international air travel on 22 January 2022. Those arriving by boat and unvaccinated, while still required to quarantine, can breathe a bit easier as well. The 14-day quarantine period will still be mandatory but time at sea since the last international port may be counted towards the crew members quarantine period.
Welcoming back international vessels will be some of the first, cautious steps into 2022. GCCM, located on Queensland’s stunning Gold Coast, is prepared to remind the world why they are the prime location for refit, repair, and berth. Only ten nautical miles from the official port of entry at Southport Yacht Club with the new Mega Berth recently unveiled, the GCCM crew is prepared to assist with Australian customs, visas, and permit regulations. Prior to the pandemic, the Gold Coast was one of the most desired locations for international superyacht destination, refit, and stopover.
The Gold Coast has not changed since the closure of international borders and GCCM is still pleased to provide the 5 Gold Anchor Service they have been known for, for over 20 years. Home to over 90 world-class businesses onsite, 300-tonne haul out capacity, full project management services, and dedicated captains and crew lounge, the Australian-based shipyard is looking forward to showcasing their talent to the international markets once more.
While travel is yet to fully return to normal, this glimpse of ‘normalcy’ is just what the industry needed.
