Paradise Point Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank has pledged $1000 towards helping Sailability raise $10,000 to fund a 75hp Motor for the community group’s powered pontoon.

Sailability is a volunteer organisation that supports over 80 disabled clients to enjoy the open water on a sail or power boat each week in the Northern Gold Coast region and has an established network of volunteers and equipment to assist people of all abilities to get into sailing.

Tony Jensen Senior Manager of Paradise Point Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank said “A vessel and the trailer have been ordered and we now need additional funding for the new motor. So we’re putting out the call for help with funding so that Sailability can improve the programs they offer people in time for Summer”.

“The plan is to have Sailability clients enjoying time on the water in the safety of the stable platform this new boat will offer, so we thought we’d kick off this next stage of the project by challenging our customers and businesses in the area to see if we can reach our target by Christmas Eve if the broader community can support the initiative”

“This new boat will be specifically designed to meet the needs of Sailability’s clients, providing wheelchair access to ensure that everyone can enjoy their time on the water and take in the beautiful sights of Broadwater on the Gold Coast.

“In order to crowd-fund the remaining $9000 we need to buy the new motor, we will need to find about $200 a day between now and Christmas Eve.

“That’s a pledge of $20 from 20 people every day.  Of course, larger donations will get us there quicker, but so will many smaller donations.  It all adds up.

“If people could share the link and tell all their friends and contacts – especially their boating and fishing friends – that the call has gone out for this very special project,  that would be amazing”, Gregory Wright President Sailiabilty Gold Coast.
