As boat and yacht Owners and Captains we all have a list of undesirable and challenging jobs that simply must be done to maintain our vessels in premium condition and maximise their efficiency. The cleaning and maintenance of bilges, fuel tanks, black & grey water tanks, voids and engine rooms is normally pretty high on this list. These chores are a pain point for any boatie and GCCM tenant, Sweep Marine now have an innovative solution to make these dreaded tasks easier, cleaner and greener than ever before.
‘Black Beauty’, as she is affectionately known, is a purpose-built vacuum truck, the very first of it’s kind to be found onsite at any marina is Australia. She is just one of many investments made by Sweep Marine Director, Constatin Beldie, over the last five year to further enhance the Sweep Marine service offering.
“Over the last two years we have invested over $150,000 in machinery and equipment – this is the latest. Sweep Marine’s other equipment and machinery ensure the safe removal of liquids from yachts to complete reparatory work on the tanks and engine room. To do that effectively, you need to empty and clean the tanks efficiently. Rather than taking a standard truck pump out solution we have made customisations appropriate to the marine environment,” explained Mr Beldie. “Where else is better to have such an onsite service than in Australia’s leading Clean Marina and Shipyard, GCCM,” he added.
And so now GCCM customers have access to ‘Black Beauty’. She is capable of cleaning tanks from 20-litres to 3000-litres and more. The cam lock connections are spill free and reach the end of any of the marina fingers meaning the work can be done in situ. Black Beauty has a steam cleaner which means it can clean the tank as it removes it contents. It can also be used in the travelift bay to clean up debris from water and sand blasting plus assist in emergency spill situations. It is one of the most multifaceted and dynamic pieces of machinery on the 50,000sqm of clean and controlled hardstand at GCCM.
“We aim to be the environmental leaders in how we operate, the services we provide our clients and to surpass regulatory requirements to not just ‘best’ practice, but ‘next’ practise. We are so encouraged when our incredible onsite partners join us in that pursuit,” stated Trenton Gay, CEO of GCCM.
“Con and his team take an enormous amount of pride in what they do. They have a true respect for the assets on which they are working, and they understand that Owners and Captains are looking for efficiency and attention to detail. Con and his team deliver it consistently, he’s always looking for ways to raise the bar and is quite simply the best in the business and a huge asset to our crew,” Mr Gay continued.
