at GCCM

As Master of the 40m new build Motor Yacht Mangusta, It is my pleasure to be writing this letter of commendation for Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard. GCCM was highly recommended to us through a reliable source, while based in Fiji and seeking a world-class shipyard in the South Pacific to carry out extensive repair & refit works as well as a 5 year survey. The shipyard lived up to our expectations, while even exceeding them on several occasions.

Our tenure at GCCM lasted 4 months, from July to Oct 2021. Our extensive job list included: Fresh & black tanks re-coating, class approved soft patch installation in transom, generator re-builds, main engine half-life overhauls, Rolls Royce jet drive overhaul, electrical design and overhauls, paint repairs, interior repairs, deck repairs, tender refits, and 5 year class survey items.

On-site project management by Pete Grocock was an immense support to us. Pete’s drive & energy, dynamic abilities, and positive contractor relations ensured maximum results. The travel-lift team were calm, safe, and dependable. The 24hr security team were on-point, professional, and helpful. The Quarterdeck Restaurant and it’s friendly staff provided culinary support to our crew, and a serene atmosphere in which to dine and relax.

I most appreciated the management in their flexibility to our unique needs and ever-changing itinerary. They were always accommodating and showed great resourcefulness in problem solving. We depart on a high note, and I would not hesitate to return again in future aboard this vessel or any other in my command.

From my first tentative inquiry in early 2017 as to the feasibility of me “returning to the water” after a forty-year gap, the team at GCCM have displayed a highly professional considerate approach towards accommodating my particular needs.  A personal guided tour of the Dry Store and the customer facilities throughout the marina convinced me to go ahead.

Whether speaking to the friendly Angie in Reception or Michael and the crew within the Dry Store, customer service and satisfaction is always foremost in their attitude.

The dry storage and launching facilities are the only practical options for me, however I recommend the convenience of dry storage for all boat owners as an alternative consideration to trailer ownership, ramp launching and home storage.

The dry storage facilities are fantastic and very easy to use. The staff in the office are a pleasure to deal with and always very helpful with any requests. The team that works the storage facility are very knowledgeable and friendly and help with any  questions I have. Would highly recommend the facility for anyone wishing to dry store their boat or jetski.

We just love having our jetski in dry storage.  It’s just a quick phone call and it’s in the water and ready to go.  The wash down facilities are great and the ski looks so much better for longer out of the water and sun.  The GCCM team are fast, friendly and always ready to help.  Can’t recommend it more.

Having owned various size boats over the last 35 years I have used 3 other Gold Coast marinas. Six years ago, through a recommendation from our mechanic, we put our boat in dry store at GCCM and have never looked back. The customer service is second to none from both Reception and the guys at dry store, I have since recommended the marina to a close friend and only after a short time he is very impressed by the service also.

The time spent at GCCM was productive as we had both Wise Boatbuilding and various other trades involved in the refit at our fingertips. The team are always welcoming and willing to go out of their way to make both the owner and the crews time in the shipyard easy and enjoyable. We have spent significant time on the yard and in the refit shed at GCCM. What has impressed me the most has been the flexibility, professionalism and accommodating nature of the yard staff and contractors. It has allowed us to complete an extensive list of works as  efficiently as possible. I will definitely be bringing the boat here every year for all the works needed. Always lovely to talk to Angie on the phone and in person. From the first enquiry and all the way through my stay at GCCM, she was great.  Michael in the Dry storage was fantastic to deal with. Always super helpful and good for a chat. Obviously very careful with the boat. To be honest, all the staff at GCCM are great.
