Gold Coast City Marina -
Environmental Management
It
is Gold Coast City Marinas philosophy
to continually research new and improved
methods of environmental control and recycling
technologies. The protection of the environment
and preservation of our rivers eco system
is of paramount importance for the future
growth and sustainability of the marine
industry.
Recently, GCCM implemented an alternative
means by which boat owners can still wash
their boats without the need to use the town
water supply. A rainwater harvesting system
captures rain from our Dry Boat Storage building’s
massive roof area. The water is then stored
in large above ground tanks and pumped under
pressure to the numerous taps that service
the outside hardstand areas.
It is
estimated that this scheme will save us some
180,000 litres of water per year.
Gold
Coast City Marina recently participated in
the Marina Industry Association of Australia,
Clean Marinas Program. Following an independent
audit from a qualified representative of the
Association, we are very pleased to announce
that Gold Coast City Marina achieved the highest
award, Level 3, under the national scheme.
The above project proved to be a key determining
factor for this level of achievement.
In
November 2007, GCCM was awarded the Gold Coast
City Council’s Environmental Achievement
Award, highlighting our commitment to continued
environmental improvement and eco sustainability.
