This week, GCCM donated 12 new mattresses from various boats that were surplus to our requirements.

The mattresses, still wrapped up in their plastic covering, were handed over to the local Rotary Club of Coomera River, who is sponsoring a shipping container packed with aid items and supplies, being shipped over to PNG.

GCCM General Manager, Steve Sammes, himself a Rotarian, explained that ‘Donations in Kind’ (DIK) is a program supported by Rotary Clubs in Australia, which grew out of the compassion and concern of returning overseas volunteers.

The program involves the collection, sorting, packing, dispatch and distribution of donated items to countries in need of these goods.
