To Kym and the great crew at GCCM
As you may recall, our vessel Suite 2, a 52 foot 30 ton Lagoon sailing catamaran arrived last month at GCCM to be lifted for a prop hub change on the way north from Sydney. The arrangements we made in advance through Kym was easy flexible and accommodating.
As it is a boat, the hub change tuned into a discovery of bent shaft and eventually landed up having a sail drive leg replaced for its silky smooth fix. So despite all this starting on an extremely busy Oct 2014 boat show day with a lot of hard stand room taken up etc, at my end the whole operation and change of planned arrangements at the last minute happened seamlessly.
What impressed me so much was the time and meticulous care taken in the expert ship lifting process with Micah and crew. Throughout the whole unplanned week we spent on the hard Anne and I felt looked after personally by office and other staff in ways that included driving us to our rental car at Southport and asking us about any needs, receiving mail, etc.
We took advantage of the time and convenience provided by the many businesses associated with the Marina in the excellent quality stainless steel fabrication, upholstery and electronics and painting areas. At the end of our hard stand a couple of days grace on a marina finger aloud Anne and I to wait for weather without rush to continue the journey north
So in an industry that often finds it tough to meet high expectations and please customers, the attitude, people, service and facilities at GCCM simply shined, leaving Anne and I and Suite 2 with a feeling of gratitude. Our recommendation comes without hesitation.

On the 27th of March 2014 GCCM lifted the vessel ‘Flying Fish’ formally owned by renowned stockbroker Rene Rifkin.
The vessel selectively chose GCCM as it’s destination for annual service because of a few key points. Firstly and most importantly the cost issue, reportedly GCCM were some 50% cheaper than reputable Sydney operators this is an astonishing saving. The fact that a 105’ vessel covers fuel bills, wages and the general running costs of a small ship and still be more cost effective is a credit to the GCCM’s focus on efficiency. Further to the cost factor Mr Markey had some major concerns at the general capability of the competitors to turn the job around in a short period of time. This is achieved at GCCM by having multiple tenants that are capable of high-end specialist works. Engineering, electrical and hydraulics were Gavin’s immediate needs.
Efficiency in the lifting equipment: GCCM is purpose built to service both the White Boat and Commercial market. The tight records and docking plans kept on every vessel means that lifting and setting a super yacht like ‘Flying Fish’ can be carried out in less than two hours. This is just not achievable using slipways or platform lifts with transfer trailers.
Having over 60 qualified commercial marine tenants calling GCCM home base is the real luxury any boat owner, Captain or Manager has at GCCM. Real time options that give the consumer leverage in negotiating and the option in the event of dispute.
End result a happy Captain with a technical job finished on time, and from the owner’s perspective on budget.

In our hustle bustle world of today it truly is great to find the recreation area we are all sooooooo passionate about can still have that warm sensation!!!
At our club tournament “Light Tackle Masters” hosted out of the GCCM&S in January we found a lot of our members and visiting competitors commenting on how “welcome” everyone involved with the marina made them feel. At that point we felt everyone had gone out of their way to make this happen!!!
Since then a chance meeting with a VERY happy owner of a new quite significant vessel purchased through GCCM&S who stated “Those guys have met and exceeded all our expectations, we couldn’t be happier” the realization that the staff had no gone out of their way at all!!! What we had experienced was in fact “situation normal” for GCCM&S … in a word “fantastic” or perhaps “sensational” is a better word to describe the warm feeling that we ALL experienced… Well done team!!!! Keep up the great work.. We love it!!

Down here at the Gold Coast City Marina we have a number of outstanding staff members we call our family. As a whole, we strive to deliver the very best to our clients and recently Pat Miller, owner of 50 Deep Blues, got in touch with us about some admirable staff members on our team.
Mr Miller is a long-term customer and friend of GCCM. Recently Pat took it upon himself to let us know of the noticeable contribution of one Kym Fleet (Operations Manager) and Vanessa James (Administration) in assisting and leading the outstanding customer service of the GCCM employee’s.
“Kym Fleet and Vanessa James respectively seem to have the magic touch when it comes to GCCM clients – they seem to lead but all the others have a similar sensibility. After a career running large and complex organisations, I recognise the formula and the extent to which your staff go out of their way to make things happen.”
Mr Miller also extends his gratitude to the staff on site, from the crack-of-dawn to the graveyard shift employee’s.
“For example, Gary is the prime example of the Mr Fixit you need. Carlos your security bloke had to let one of my crew in at some godawful hour last Wednesday night. He conducted him to the boat – just doing his job well.”
Shipyard Operations run by Kym Fleet are also highlighted in Pats correspondence. “During the haul-out some complicated work on the saildrive, fairing and keel reinforcement was required. There is demonstrable expertise, networking and camaraderie among the businesses and staff at the yard. It became obvious if one business couldn’t do the job they would not only put me onto another business but organise for their people to see me in a timely manner armed with the right information.”
The Gold Coast City Marina would like to thank all operational staff of the Shipyard and Administration for their hard work and commitment to the clients of the GCCM. Gold Coast City Marina has excellent and extensive facilities for fixing yachts, re-rigging, spraying, osmosis treatment etc. Almost anything can be done within the huge commercial precinct as several commercial boat manufacturers are based there and all trades are represented. The marina has special deals quite regularly including a weekend DIY Splash and Dash for those who want to do a quick DIY anti-fouling job.

Once again GCCM has provided an excellent haulout experience for us, Kaitoro has been hauled out at your yard four times now. Every time we have been impressed with the professional attitude of your staff and the performance of your in house contractors, we are particularly pleased with the service provided by Greg Watson and his team. Also high marks to Stella’s pipe fittings guy and to Wicked stainless.
